June Update

Well, here it is, getting towards the end of June, and we’re still in the UK.   We received our Visas ages ago and thought that we would be setting off at the end of this month.     We should have taken possession of the deeds to our house on or around 8 May.    But thanks to the inefficiency of our mortgage company, we’re still waiting!!!!    Hopefully this will be sorted out within a week or so and we can book our flight to Ozzieland.     We can also contact the local Letting Agents who will be taking care of our house and hopefully renting it to some nice considerate people whilst we’re away.

It looks as if the best place to start will be Sydney, we can spend a few days with my Aunt and Uncle before heading up to Newcastle which I understand is the hub of the motorhome world.    Hopefully if won’t take us too long to find just the right vehicle and then we can get under way.    We’ll head for Darwin, via Lightning Ridge so that we can ‘do’ Northern Australia before it gets too hot and wet.   Then on at a more leisurely pace down the west coast to Perth.    This is the Plan - whether we stick to it or not is another thing.   We don’t want to be held to any deadlines, just poodling along seeing what’s around the next bend.

I’ve been checking out loads of sites to see what sort of motorhomes are available and have come to the conclusion that a Nissan Civilian or Toyota Coaster would suit us very nicely thankyou.   Just need to find one without the permanent bed (we want to have two bench seats with a table in between that can be turned into a bed).
