  4. Message from Sue & John Bennett on April 19, 2009 at 5:27 am.

Hi Lesley & Jeff just wanted to say thanks for your hospitality when you were in Eden. We’ve checked out your web site and what a talented pair you are. John said to tell Jeff he’s been doing research into the Guiness widgets and so far has 3. Research is on going. We were grateful for all that rain that held you back a day, our water tanks were refilled after the family had been here so we are now ready for the next lot in a couple of weeks. Be safe you two, it was very nice to meet you and really hope we can do it again sometime. We will follow your progress with great interest. John & Sue

*** HAPPY BIRTHDAY LESLEY *** I trust you will have a good day and that brother of mine has a big surprise for you. It looks as though the trip is going well and you are enjoying yourselves. How about this for a coincidence. On the 21st March we celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary, you were abroad 50 years ago Jeff, I still have the telegram you sent us from the West Indies. I digress, one day while there we went to a place called Freshwater and their was a man on a stall selling item he made of knots. We got talking as you do and I happened to mention about your interest and the fact you belonged to an international knot making guild. He than produced a certificate and there at the bottom of the page was Jeff Wyatt as the chairman of the guild. How about that then. I told him you were my brother and he gave me a card which I have if you want the information. Well enjoy your day Lesley. With love June X

How very delightful it was to meet you both when you visited our community craft shop “Eyre Crafts” here in Streaky Bay South Australia. What talented people you are! I have enjoyed your website too. I’ll treasure the little “knot” you gave me and put it on the shop keyring.
Enjoy the rest of your trip and I’ll have fun following you on the ‘net.

Hi from your friends the Fishers holidaying in perth. Were still here enjoying our time and glad to hear that you are finaly able to enjoy yours on the road. We were lucky enough to be invited to Pauls birthday where yet again your story was replayed. What a tale, what troubled time, what a fond memory and result for everyone involved. I’ve been reading your story to date and envy you both. The Fisher and Burleigh families would like to wish you the very best of luck and experiences for the remainder of your time here. Two fine people traveling our vast land. May good luck and fair weather follow you relentlesly.

  18. Message from Jo and Alan Brock on December 14, 2008 at 7:01 pm.

Lesley! Found your letter from last year and was going to send a Xmas card until I read your letter properly! So, instead found your blog and have been reading with great interest and a certain amount of envy. We have two friends, our age, who are thinking of doing exactly (or nearly) the same as you next year when their pensions come through so will suggest they follow your progress too and poach some ideas – especially about finding a Camper Van. We hope your have a good Xmas and that you carry on travelling sin problems. Will follow your progress avidly! love Jo xxxx

  19. Message from Ruth Smith on November 22, 2008 at 6:38 pm.

    Hi Lesley and Jeff,
Just catching up with everything. Super photos and I have to admit the roads looks in much better than they did in the 60’s !!
Sorry to hear about the big engine problem with Betty, not the kind of thing you could have predicted but a bit of a beggar to put it mildly.
We are full of snow and blizzards at presents, not very pleasant but I couldn’t cope with 30 degree heat either.
Hope you get things sorted out pretty soon motorwise,
    Keep safe,
Love Ruth and all the Smiffs xx

  20. Message from Kat L. on November 17, 2008 at 2:42 pm.

    Salutations!
Finally remembered about your blog(Well, actually mum reminded me but i digress), and thought ‘Hmm, maybe they’d like to know whats happened on the home front?’(Actually, mom again) Anyway, a short update on what’s happened here. I broke my ankle 3 weeks ago, but Alex has apparently been doing well at his college, Mum is feeling much better, and Dad is, well, Dad.
Anyway, I’ve been reading through this with envy- we didn’t get to go on Holiday because of my Ankle, so angst all round. Still, I can’t wait for your next update.
Safe trip and a good morrow.

Read all your news to date. It seems you are having a great time although not a lot of luck with the van. Were not long back from Lake Garda, a very beautiful spot and we had a good time. The weather, like you Lesley, would not suit me and to add salt to the wound it’s b. freezing hear with the first of the snow in Scotland, mind you I know where I would prefer to be at this moment, is there enough room in the van for another one. Continue enjoying yourselves. With love June X

Thanks very much for your greetings. We had a great day on Sunday and the weather was good. Malcolm, Jean, Penney, Tracey their spouses and children all came, it was good to see them and all the children got on so well. On my actual birthday we went to Brighton and had fish and chips on the pier, another good day. The family booked us on a 8 day trip to Lake Garda in Italy on the 1st October we are looking to this very much. Enough of us I see all is well with you both and Betty, I trust she is behaving herself, the only problem I have is who’s that grey haired man sitting at the wheel I thought they all wore hats with corks around the brim. Be safe and make the most of your wonderful trip. June X

Up to date with all your news. You must have taken the bad weather with you and left it behind as well. The floods etc are bad again although mostly Wales, Midlands and up north.
    Enjoy. June X
