Cavalier King Charles Spaniels owned, bred, shown and loved by Lesley & Jeff from 1970 to 2007
Wydon Cavaliers
Jeff bought me my first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in 1971. We called her Pandi (cos I was working for P and O (geddit??) at the time, but her real name was Rupurts Imp. She was really intended to be a pet, but persuaded by her breeders, Rita Parratt and Tony Shaw, we entered her in a show. As I didn’t really know what it was all about, I entered her in all the Toy classes – Puppy, Junior, Limit and Open. She was only eight and a half months old!!! In spite of this, she ended up with a First, 2 Seconds and a VHC. The judge was overheard to say “if the owner of that dear little Cavalier had know what she was doing, she would have done even better” DHUH!!!! And, we, Pandi and Me, got our picture on the front page of the local paper. This was our introduction to the world of Dog Showing and to nearly 35 years of being owned by this delightful breed. We got ourselves a Kennel Name – Wydon , which was a combination of WYatt and GorDON (my maiden name). During this time we attended many shows, winning a fair few prizes, breeding some lovely dogs, making loads a friends and generally having a great time. Our last bitch, Wydon Solitaire went over the Rainbow Bridge two and a half years ago and as we were away from home attending craft shows for much of the time, and thinking about going on a cruise we thought that it wouldn’t be fair to take on a pup.
